Leeds Art Gallery- Wednesday 9th March 2022
Year 6 visited Leeds city art gallery on Wednesday 9th March. The adventure began with a train journey, children quickly noticed the differences between our town and the massive city and we enjoyed the walk from station to gallery in the sunshine.
At the gallery we met the learning officer and had a gallery room to ourselves where we made sketchbooks, noticed our surroundings, talked about the ways we experience sculpture.
We were led to a few sculptures and listened and discussed them, before exploring the rest of the gallery in small groups.
The weather was kind and we were able to eat lunch outside on the imposing gallery steps, watching the hustle and bustle of city life around us.
On the return journey the children talked excitedly and with interest about the architecture of the building, the city and the artworks they’d seen.
